Kayla DiVenere, the gifted singer, songwriter, and artist, unveils her latest single, “Small Talk,” available today on Sound Factory Records.
Fresh off the success of her recent hits like “Date Myself” and “Jumping the Gun,” Kayla brings another infectious alt-pop gem with “Small Talk.” Collaborating with producer/songwriter Jordan Witzigreuter (The Ready Set) and songwriters Maia Kelly and Zach DeGaetano, Kayla crafts a song that’s both catchy and thought-provoking.
At only 20 years old, Kayla’s lyrics resonate deeply, capturing the complexities of youth. In “Small Talk,” her mesmerizing vocals narrate a tale of a clandestine crush she harbors for her brother’s closest companion.
“‘Small Talk’ emerged from my yearning to have more than fleeting conversations with my crush every time he visited,” Kayla reveals. “I found myself longing for a John Hughes-esque romance, complete with a boombox serenade and a mixtape of his favorite tunes. Instead of tormenting myself with fantasies, I channeled my feelings into this song, aiming to express my desire for something beyond superficial chatter.”
