Chelsea Uses One Hook to Her Advantage

Chelsea Uses One Hook to Her Advantage

Chelsea Collins’ track, 07 Britney, clearly shows that she understands how repeating a catchy hook can play to your advantage. We first hear the hook right at the start of the song, and the melody stays unchanged for the most part throughout the song. However, if you constantly repeat the same thing, it can become monotonous, regardless of how catchy it is. To counteract that, Chelsea brings in some variation in the melody each time it’s sung. Give the song another listen, and you’ll notice her use of a vocal effect in the second prechorus, a variation at the end of the melody at the end of the bridge (that last note was insane, we must admit), and vocal harmony in the outro. This subtle but necessary variation brought about the best in this catchy hook.
